Knowing the personality of your pet will make it easier to choose the right stroller. Frequently people say, “My dog likes to stand up and put his front paws on the edge of the cabin” or “My cat lays down in the stroller so she needs to be able to see out at a lower point.” Some strollers have a compartment that is firm and looks more like a basket while others have fabric and mesh that encompasses the front part of the stroller.
For example, the Pet Gear AT3 and Special Edition strollers have the ability to close up the cabin with a zipper. Your pet has a great view all around him because of the mesh windows.
The PetZip Sports XL and Deluxe 3 in 1 strollers have more of a container-type of cabin so your pet can perch if he likes to do that.
Kyjen’s Outward Hound stroller has a cabin with one foot tall, firm sides.
PetEgo’s Quadro stroller that fits the Pod ILove has a firm basket-style cabin, whereas the Sport Trike, which can utilize the Sport Wagon Bag, has a fabric covering the cabin.
KittyWalk’s strollers are designed more for containment than for your pet being able to poke his head out of the top or side. However, KittyWalk strollers have a 360 degree view and soft fabric sides so your pet won’t miss a thing.
One type of cabin is not superior to any other because it comes down to preference. Some people like the comfort of knowing that their pet is secure inside a zippered fabric and mesh cabin. Others just decide to tether their pet inside the cabin and let them stick their head out of the stroller.

With more than half of the dogs and cats living in our homes being overweight, efforts need to be made to get our pets in shape. There are so many dogs foods available, but one of the best is Innova. The first two ingredients in Innova dog food are Turkey and Chicken, not “meat.” Innova, made by Natura Pet uses real fruits and vegetables, whole grain barley and brown rice in their foods. Because of its protein-rich content, my dogs need to eat so much less. My dogs love to eat this food!
For comparison, below is a list of the first handful of ingredients from Purina Beneful Original, just a random comparison, and then the ingredients from Innova Adult Dog Food:
Beneful: Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), rice flour, beef, soy flour, water, meat and bone meal
- Chicken Meal
- Brown Rice
- Chicken Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a Natural Source of Vitamin E)
- Natural Flavors
There’s no comparison, right? Well, for many people it comes down to cost. A 30 lb bag of Beneful costs $35 while a 30 lb bag of Innova costs $50. However, because other dog foods have more fat and less quality proteins, it seems that you have to feed your dog more of those foods. A 20 lb dog eating Innova needs 1 1/8 cups per day. This healthy food fills them up for a longer period of time. I feel good knowing that my dogs are eating real food and they are not overweight.

Experts in back safety tell us we need to lift objects with our legs, not our backs, and not to twist when we are carrying an object. To protect the back and spine, it is important to distribute the weight that you carry as evenly as possible. You can injure your back by just lifting an object the wrong way once, and you can injure your back over time by lifting many things the wrong way, maintaining poor posture, being overweight and experiencing enduring stress.
Hauling your pet in a carrier, even if he or she only weighs 10 pounds, on one shoulder creates an imbalance of strain on your back. One way to even out the weight is to use a pet backpack. It’s important to carry the backpack high on your back, not to let it hang low. Another solution is to use a pet carrier on wheels . Wheeled carriers foster a smooth, less physically demanding travel experience for both you and your pet.
Many wheeled pet carriers have multiple functions. For example, the Pet Gear I-GO2 Plus Traveler is a pet carrier, rolling bag, backpack, car seat and a tote. It comes in six different colors and will carry pets up to 25 pounds.
The Snoozer Roll Around Carrier is also very popular with pets. It is a wheeled carrier, backpack, car seat and a traveling bed. The Roll Around comes in three different colors and three different sizes. The large size will carry a pet up to 30 pounds.
The Sherpa Pet Ultimate Bag on Wheels is a very well-made quilted texture carrier that can be carried or pulled. It has a large accessory pocket and comes in three sizes. It has a deep black color and the L will hold pets up to 22 pounds.

There aren’t many pet strollers out there that specifically are designed for two pets to ride separately, aside from the KittyWalk Double Decker. The Double Decker has two separate, removable carriers, each with a front and a back door. The doors are closed with durable metal clasps, not with zippers. This type of stroller is perfect for keeping two pets separated when they won’t play nice together.
However, there are many pet strollers that have the capability to carry more than one pet at a time. First, pay attention to the cabin dimensions to determine whether your two or three pets will fit inside. Then make sure you adhere to the weight limit that each stroller can carry. If you have concerns about whether your pets may jump out of the stroller, then you should also pay attention to the number of tether clips available in the cabin. Some people don’t even use this feature, but if you think your pet might make a run for it, you may want to look into the number of tether clips. The PetZip Monogram and the PetZip Happy Trailer both have more than one tether clip.
