Two More Strollers For Bulldogs

Since my last post that talked about great bulldog strollers, two more sturdy strollers have come out: The Pet Gear Double stroller and the Gen7Pets Jogger stroller. The Jogger will carry 75 pounds of bulldog and the Double will hold up to 90 pounds.

Both of these strollers have a sturdy base that will support solid, heavy dogs like the bulldog. the strollers both have a cozy cabin and plenty of windows.

The Gen7Pets Jogger has EVA foam tires, otherwise known as “never-flat” tires. The Pet Gear Double stroller has 12 inch air-filled tires. The tires can quickly be released should you desire to take them off for storage or for putting into the car. The Double comes with an air-pump, and also with a weather cover for those days you get caught in the rain.

Both strollers have superior handle height; the Jogger is 40 inches high and the Double is 42 inches high. This is helpful if you choose to jog or walk quickly with your dog, because your feet won’t kick the wheels.

Cabin Sizes for Jogger Pet Strollers

It’s important to pay attention to the INSIDE dimensions when considering a pet stroller purchase. For many pet strollers, you can find the outside dimensions and the folded dimensions, but you also really want to know how much room is inside the cabin.

If you are planning to buy a pet strollers that is much larger than your dog, then you don’t need to worry too much about it. However, if you are coming close to the weight recommendation or have more than one pet that will go inside, all dimensions are important.

Will your pet sit, lie down or stand inside the cabin? Well, that can be difficult to predict. For larger dogs, it is often the case that they will lie down in the cabin. Lying down may give a bigger dog a greater sense of stability. Cabins such as the DoggyRide Novel or Original, PetEgo Comfort Wagon and the Solvit Houndabout were designed for the large dog to either sit, stand or lie down, comfortably.

Medium-sized animals have more options for jogger strollers. For example, a 60 pound Basset Hound (24″ Long and 14″ Tall) will comfortably fit into: The Pet Gear Jogger or NV Strollers ¬†(30″L x 13″W x 22″H), the Gen7Pets Jogger (26″L x 14″W x 22″H), The PetZip Happy Trailer (28″L x 17″W x 24″H) or any of the pet strollers for large animals.

An American Bulldog that stands 13 inches tall, 26 inches long and weighs about 55 pounds could choose the Pet Gear Jogger, NV or AT3, the PetZip Happy Trailer or any of the big dog strollers. The bulldog has a longer body so it will be important to decide whether or not he will likely ride in the sitting position, or whether he is a dog that would rather lie down. He will be more comfortable lying down in one of the big dog strollers.

Smaller dogs often like to ride high off the ground so they can see the world better. So, they might be a happier in the Gen7Pets Jogger, any of the Pet Gear Joggers, or the PetZip Happy Trailer.

Interior Cabin Space For Multiple Pets

A common question I get asked is whether more than one dog or cat can fit inside a pet stroller. For many strollers, the answer is “yes,” no problem! First, consider the weight of the two (or even 3) animals. Two dogs weighing a total of 40 pounds are likely to fit inside a stroller that can hold up to 60 or 70 pounds. In these larger strollers, you will be sure to have a cabin big enough for multiple pets.

For example, the PetZip Happy Trailer will hold up to 75 pounds and the interior cabin measures: 28″L x 17″W x 24″H. I have two French Bulldog-Pug mix dogs that weigh 26lbs and 23 lbs. In the sitting position, they measure about 12-13″ across and fit easily into the Happy Trailer cabin. Sometimes one dog lies down and the other sits. They both can lie down together, but they never choose this option. The two dogs also fit happily into the Gen7Pets Jogger, which measures: 26″L x 14″W x 22″H. There is a lot of extra room for them in the Pet Gear NV Stroller, which measures: 30″L x 13″W x 22″H. The Pet Gear AT3 (30.5″L x 14″W x 24″H) and Jogger (30″L x 13″W x 22″H) also have cabins large enough to accommodate more than one pet.

DRminitwoIf you prefer a smaller stroller with still enough room to carry more than one pet, look at the DoggyRide Mini (23″L x 15″W x 22″H) which can carry up to 55 pounds, and the Pet Gear Special Edition stroller (26″L x 12″W x 19.5″H) which has a 45 pound weight limit. The Gen7Pets Promenade (25″L x 13″W x 21.5″H) is a medium-sized stroller with a 50lb weight limit and a large cabin for multiple pets.

These are just a few examples of stroller cabins that can accommodate more than one pet. Most pet strollers have an enclosure that is mesh to protect your pets from jumping out, but many have two tether clips for two leashes. The PetZip Happy Trailer actually has three tether clips.
