Don’t Strain Your Back!

Experts in back safety tell us we need to lift objects with our legs, not our backs, and not to twist when we are carrying an object. To protect the back and spine, it is important to distribute the weight that you carry as evenly as possible. You can injure your back by just lifting an object the wrong way once, and you can injure your back over time by lifting many things the wrong way, maintaining poor posture, being overweight and experiencing enduring stress.

Hauling your pet in a carrier, even if he or she only weighs 10 pounds, on one shoulder creates an imbalance of strain on your back. One way to even out the weight is to use a pet backpack.  It’s important to carry the backpack high on your back, not to let it hang low.  Another solution is to use a pet carrier on wheels . Wheeled carriers foster a smooth, less physically demanding travel experience for both you and your pet.

Many wheeled pet carriers have multiple functions. For example, the Pet Gear I-GO2 Plus Traveler is a pet carrier, rolling bag, backpack, car seat and a tote. It comes in six different colors and will carry pets up to 25 pounds.

The Snoozer Roll Around Carrier is also very popular with pets. It is a wheeled carrier, backpack, car seat and a traveling bed. The Roll Around comes in three different colors and three different sizes. The large size will carry a pet up to 30 pounds.snoozer rollaround

The Sherpa Pet Ultimate Bag on Wheels is a very well-made quilted texture carrier that can be carried or pulled. It has a large accessory pocket and comes in three sizes. It has a deep black color and the L will hold pets up to 22 pounds.
